I was recently invited by Paulina Leonor Lempicka to attend her Graphic Art Exhibit and other Artists showing their work in honoring Lady Gaga at Galerie Chappe on 4 rue André Barsacq, Paris 75018. However, I will concentrate primarily on the work of Paulina and a short introduction of multi-media artist Brisa Roché for this [...]
There’s A Time There’s a time when we will suffer There’s a time when we will fall There’s a time when we know nothing When we think we know it all When we’re lost in stormy weather Cold and stranded in the rain Life can be so dark and empty There’s no meaning only pain [...]
By Isa Maïsa The irony of success is when we lose ourselves in it. The fickle thing is that everyone wants it, not everyone has it and even when we do, some are not able to handle it. As our society today considers fame and fortune to be the Holy Grail of our sense of [...]
I’m now being challenged by questions: What is Art? Does Life imitate Art? Does Art mirror Life? Can Art exist without Life? Can life exist without Art? Can you see Art all around you? Are you an observer of that Art? Are you a part of it? Would it exist without you? Does a gallery [...]
by Marvin Kanarek “Body Of Work” is here, let’s see where this goes… Someone who designs a single house is not an architect. Someone who writes a single song or set of lyrics is not a songwriter. A person who owns a musical instrument is not a musician. A single drawing or painting or photograph [...]
It’s back. I’m not sure why I was left with “Body Of Work”. It’s obvious to me right now that it won’t be pursued during this writing. Hoping it’s tossed at me again at a later date. Right now what is resonating within me is, acceptance of praise and criticism and the meaning of Art [...]
by Marvin Kanarek I was going to do something else right now. I was outside having a smoke. Something came in again. So I’m sitting here getting it out before it goes away. Three words: – Sacrifice, Selfishness, Balance. When that “moment arrives” it’s only you tapping into and following that energy (Muse?), before it [...]
I’m sure there are dictionary definitions of the word Muse. I or you can look it up. Maybe I will when this cycle has passed through me. I had heard a great story about a Scottish poetess who was out walking on her land one morning when all of a sudden she felt the presence of the Muse. She hurried home as fast as she could. Her pace was quickened by the fear that if she didn’t get back soon enough, the muse would pass through her and go on to inspire another poet! Interesting.
I think that’s part of what this Muse energy is.
by Marvin Kanarek I just had an epiphany, maybe it’s The Muse, I don’t know. So I guess I’m fated to continue at least ‘til the end of this little story. I’m a true “dyed in the T-shirt” Hippy way back when during the Yorkville days in Toronto. Living the life of music, free love, [...]
An interesting interview with Marilyn Manson. Quite the contrast from what one might have thought of him prior to this interview. Marilyn Manson is quite a brilliant and forward thinking Human Being. I have also added an excerpt from Henry Rollins speaking tour in Israel, of which he is a staunch supporter. I’ll say no [...]
by Marvin Kanarek I’ll try as best I can to describe the journey, the psyche, the attitude, the denial, the acceptance and anything else I can touch upon that might illuminate this elusive universe that I call “The State Of The Artist? It’s a state of mind, spirit and necessity, that is highly romanticized, clearly [...]
Blow Up Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni was a film loosely based on the life of David Bailey and was one of the first films I ever saw relating to the Fashion Biz. In fact, it was the first time I was ever exposed to fashion from the vantage point of a photographer. It was a [...]
America, Freedom to Fascism The below article taken from “Advocates for Self Government” Watch this Video series with Film maker and Music Producer Aaron Russo who sadly died in 2007. We lost a wonderful Human Being a Real “Mensch”. I can only imagine what he might have accomplished had he not left us so prematurely. [...]
I was taking a stroll in my neighborhood tonight and as I walked by a couple of men speaking, I hear a familiar voice that I know using a profane French word “Connard” which means asshole. I spun around, looked closely and I was surprised to find that standing there was one of the Great French Actors Vincent Lindon.
